GTA 6 PC Release: What Rockstar and Take-Two Have Said

The short answer to every GTA 6 PC question right now is simple: not at launch, and Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version at all. Rockstar's official GTA VI page lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for the November 19, 2026 launch. Everything beyond that, including any talk of a GTA 6 PC release date, comes from outside Rockstar and Take-Two: chiefly a GamesBeat report built on anonymous sources and the personal opinion of a former Rockstar technical director. Below, we keep those three things clearly separated: what's confirmed, what's reported, and what's opinion.

Will GTA 6 Be on PC? The Official Word from Rockstar

Officially, Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, launching November 19, 2026 (rockstargames.com/VI). Take-Two has reaffirmed that console date on its earnings calls this year, GamesBeat reports. No PC version has been announced, which means there is currently no official GTA 6 PC release date, no listed PC specs, and no confirmed timeline for whether or when GTA 6 on PC will happen.

Rockstar has already delayed the console launch twice, which shows the studio's plans can shift. That history applies to the console release itself, though — it is not a statement about a PC version one way or the other.

The GamesBeat Report: A Claimed GTA 6 PC Release Date in Q1 2027

In October 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar is planning a GTA 6 PC release in the first quarter of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources (GamesBeat). The outlet said a Rockstar representative had not responded to its request for comment before the story was published.

This is a report built on unnamed sources, not a statement from Rockstar or Take-Two. Treat the Q1 2027 window as a report, not a confirmed release date, until Rockstar says otherwise.

Obbe Vermeij's Opinion: Could AI Clones Push GTA 6 on PC Sooner?

Obbe Vermeij, who served as Rockstar North's technical director until he left the studio in 2009, told Rock Paper Shotgun that a GTA 6 PC port may come sooner than anticipated, because he thinks Rockstar and Take-Two will be concerned about losing money to unofficial generative-AI clones of the PS5 version (Rock Paper Shotgun). He argues that someone could use generative AI to convert the PS5 version for PC, and that the result, while not as good as Rockstar's own work, "could still also hurt their sales." His conclusion is measured: "I wouldn't be surprised if there was an effort to get [the releases] a little bit closer together" (GamesRadar).

Vermeij is explicit that this is his own reading of the situation, not inside knowledge of current plans — he says he doesn't actually know what Rockstar intends to do. He also points to how the series has shifted over time: GTA was very much PC-first in its early days, and that changed with GTA 3 (GamesRadar).

Separately from Vermeij, GamesBeat points out that a Q1 2027 release would be a much quicker turnaround than GTA V, whose PC version arrived in April 2015, roughly a year and seven months after its September 2013 console launch (GamesBeat).

Frequently asked questions

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Not at launch, and Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version at all; the official GTA VI page lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (Rockstar). Any talk of a GTA 6 PC release comes from outside reports and opinion, not from Rockstar or Take-Two.

What is the GTA 6 PC release date?

There is no official GTA 6 PC release date. GamesBeat reported in October 2026 that industry sources point to a Q1 2027 PC release, but Rockstar hasn't confirmed this and a company representative didn't respond before the story was published (GamesBeat).

Have Rockstar or Take-Two made any official statement about GTA 6 on PC?

Not on a PC version. Rockstar's official GTA VI page names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and we found no statement from Rockstar or Take-Two confirming a PC version or date (Rockstar).

Who is Obbe Vermeij and why does his view matter?

Obbe Vermeij was Rockstar North's technical director until he left the company in 2009, so he speaks as a former insider (Rock Paper Shotgun). He's clear that his comments are personal opinion, not inside knowledge of Rockstar's current plans, since he left the studio over a decade ago.

Could AI-made clones affect when GTA 6 arrives on PC?

That's Vermeij's theory: he thinks Rockstar and Take-Two may want to narrow the gap between the console and PC releases to avoid losing sales to unofficial, AI-generated ports of the PS5 version (Rock Paper Shotgun). He frames it as a concern he'd personally have in Rockstar's position, not a confirmed company strategy.

How long have past Rockstar games typically taken to reach PC after their console launch?

It varies by game. GTA V reached PC in April 2015, roughly a year and seven months after its September 2013 console launch (GamesBeat). GTA BOOM's release table shows GTA IV taking about seven months (April to December 2008), Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year (October 2018 to November 2019), and the original Red Dead Redemption more than 14 years (May 2010 to October 2024). A Q1 2027 PC release would be quicker than any of those.

Can I download a GTA 6 PC version right now?

No. There's no official GTA 6 PC version to download, since Rockstar hasn't released or announced one. Any 'GTA 6 PC download' circulating today is not official, and VietRPG can't verify or recommend it.

Where can I check for confirmed GTA 6 PC news?
