Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026, and its cast is built around the Heroic Games, a tournament in the city of Dagsion where fighters compete for a single wish. This guide to the Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave characters walks through the roster: the customizable protagonist, the four heroes and their English voice cast, each hero's starting allies, the wider Part I cast, and — behind a spoiler note — the units added later in the story, plus the gods coming in the Expansion Pass.

Step 1: Create Eshmel, the Protagonist

Eshmel is the player-made protagonist at the center of the story. You set Eshmel's name and appearance, and the English voices are Joshua Waters and Virginia Lee.

The goddess Fortuna sends Eshmel back in time to guide four heroes, the Flame Lords, against the demon god Balor. Fortuna is voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris, who also voices Sothis.

The official Nintendo product page frames this as gathering allies across time to stop Balor before the future falls to ruin.

Step 2: Meet the Four Heroes — the Main Characters

Each Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave main character among the four heroes leads a separate path with its own allies, all converging on the Heroic Games.

Per the Nintendo store page, these four are drawn to Dagsion, capital of the Dagdan Empire, where the Heroic Games' winner is granted one wish.

Step 3: Recruit Each Hero's Starting Allies

Before the wider cast opens up, every hero's path begins with a small group of starting allies:

  • Cai's path: Tialla, Peter, and Ultand.
  • Dietrich's path: Fabio, Esmeralda, and Mikaela.
  • Theodora's path: Bonaventure, Tobias, Lysander, and Lilian.
  • Leda's path: Buccar, Sirocco, Mu, and Olympia.

As with later recruits, exactly how and when these join can depend on the route you're following and the support level you build, according to Game8's character roster guide and Polygon's recruitment guide. Some route allies can also be recruited on other paths.

Step 4: Find the Rest of the Part I Cast

Beyond the starting allies, Part I adds a long list of recruitable Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave new characters spread across the four paths. Following Game8's full roster list, these include: Hong Hua, Troy, Gaitz, Dante, Ursula, Simon, Diego, Ninae, Sha Lan, Nezha, Guzran, Io, Catania, Nydine, Benditz, Alexandra, Yang Jie, Noctula, Sofia, Peppe, Seteth, Loretta, Jester, Goliath, Ludia, Dadao, Fianna, Halvin, Zarcone, Majide, Kiroc, Jasmine, Nuzzuo, and Inyoni.

No official total character count has been published for the game, so this list reflects what guides from Game8 and Polygon have documented rather than a confirmed final number.

Step 5: Part II and III Units (Spoiler Note)

Spoiler note: naming these characters confirms the story continues beyond Part I. Skip this step if you'd rather meet them yourself.

Part II introduces Creek and Nathan.

Part III adds Bertrand, Talimun, Anatolia, Orchel, Centurio, Aswan, Tahonia, and Klapka.

Step 6: Guest Characters

A handful of guest characters round out the cast: Long, Anna, Solel, and Castor — the last being Cai's father, whose looming execution is what pulls Cai into the Heroic Games in the first place.

Step 7: The Expansion Pass Gods (Wave 2)

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave also has a paid Expansion Pass. Wave 1 of the DLC launched on October 14, 2026. Wave 2, planned for holiday 2026, is set to add three gods as allies: Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah. It hasn't released yet, so there's little beyond their names to report.
