So the FBC won't let me be.You know when you see Remedy's name attached to a project, you are going to bear witness to a surreal and mind-twisting series of events. But with its newly announced action-adventure Control sequel - now officially known as Control Resonant - the studio has taken what it does best, and turned the volume up to 11, thanks to a warped Manhattan hellscape complete with kaleidoscopic pigeons and paranatural entities.
You know when you see Remedy's name attached to a project, you are going to bear witness to a surreal and mind-twisting series of events. But with its newly announced action-adventure Control sequel - now officially known as Control Resonant - the studio has taken what it does best, and turned the volume up to 11, thanks to a warped Manhattan hellscape complete with kaleidoscopic pigeons and paranatural entities.
As many had surmised earlier this year, Control Resonant players will take on the mantle of Dylan Faden, the brother of Control's Jesse. And, while Jesse had her gun, Dylan has a mammoth shapeshifting melee weapon, known as the Aberrant, and by the looks of things he will certainly need it as he makes his way through the perception-bending city. You can check out the announcement trailer for Control Resonant below:
"After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden's former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis," reads the official blurb.
"Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he struggles to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilled beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear the world apart."
Creative director Mikael Kasurinen said Control Resonant will land players in an "expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence" on its release, adding you won't need to have played the first game to still enjoy the upcoming sequel.
"We've made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down," the developer said. "We're pushing the scale beyond anything we've done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience.
"It's ambitious, a little wild, and we can't wait for players to get lost in it."
Control Resonant is planned for release in 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store. Will you be playing?
Elsewhere in Remedy news, earlier this year the studio's CEO Tero Virtala stepped down from his position at the company. While Remedy's announcement did not indicate a reason for Virtala's departure after 11 years at the company, it followed a profit warning to investors "due to weak sales" of the studio's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak.
