Elden Ring Gravity Sorcerer Guide (Shadow of the Erdtree Build) Shadow of the Erdtree Build
In this Elden Ring Build Guide, I’ll be showing you my Meteorite Staff build. This is a Shadow of the Erdtree build that takes place after level 150. If you’ve been looking for a mage build that focuses on gravity spells, then you might want to check this build-out.
This build is a 2.0 version of the Meteor Mage build from the early days of Elden Ring, incorporating two new spells added with the DLC: Gravitational Missile and Blades of Stone. The first aspect to consider for a Gravity Sorcerer build is the choice of staff. The Carian Regal Scepter is used due to its excellent sorcery scaling at high intelligence levels. This build features 80 Intelligence, maximizing the effectiveness of this staff. In the off-hand, the Meteorite Staff is carried, providing a significant +30% damage boost to gravity sorceries. While it doesn't offer the sorcery scaling of the Carian Regal Scepter, the damage buff it provides is essential for this build. The Meteorite Staff should be held in the off-hand during casting to take advantage of its passive bonus. Additionally, the Golden Order Seal is included for casting Golden Vow and Flame Grant Me Strength. These buffs are crucial, especially since many gravity magic spells deal physical damage. Using Flame Grant Me Strength can enhance physical damage before a boss fight or a challenging encounter, while Golden Vow increases overall damage and provides additional protection.
The build features a selection of seven spells, although some are prioritized over others. Gravity Well is outperformed by Collapsing Stars, which deals about 40% more damage and is more FP efficient, making it the preferred choice. Meteorite of Astel is chosen over the regular Meteorite spell due to its higher damage output and faster summoning of meteors, despite its higher FP cost. This spell is particularly effective when used in combination with the Cerulean Hidden Tear, allowing for continuous casting without consuming FP. Gravitational Missile, obtained from defeating the Falling Star Beast boss, is one of the new spells introduced with the DLC. It deals 100% magic damage, making it compatible with the Magic Scorpion Charm and Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear. The spell shoots an orb that pulls enemies towards it before detonating in a large explosion. While charging the spell increases its damage, it's often more practical to cast it directly at the ground to ensure immediate detonation, especially against charging enemies. The other new spell, Blades of Stone, deals 100% physical damage. It summons blades that emerge from the ground beneath the target. When charged, it summons three blades in succession, tracking the target's movements. This spell is highly effective in dealing area-of-effect damage and is a reliable option for both boss fights and general exploration. Its physical damage component can be boosted with Flame Grant Me Strength or Exalted Flesh. Rock Sling remains a staple for its high stance damage and effectiveness from horseback. It’s particularly useful against large bosses, where it can stagger them, allowing for a follow-up with Meteorite of Astel.
For armor, the build doesn't rely heavily on specific pieces. Light armor is preferred to maintain a medium roll. The Preceptor’s Big Hat is used to increase Mind, providing more FP, but any helmet that boosts Intelligence is also suitable.
The talisman setup includes the Graven-Mass Talisman to increase sorcery damage and the Godfrey Icon to enhance charged spells. For exploring landscapes and dungeons, the Blessed Blue Dew Talisman is used to replenish FP over time, making it easier to manage resources during prolonged exploration. The Crusade Insignia increases attack power after killing an enemy, synergizing well with the build’s playstyle. The Ritual Sword Talisman is another option, offering a 10% attack power boost when at full health, which is generally easy to maintain with this build. In boss fights, the Magic Scorpion Charm boosts magic damage but increases damage taken. This talisman is ideal when focusing on spells like Collapsing Stars or Gravitational Missile. The Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman provides additional protection, which is beneficial when using the Magic Scorpion Charm.
At level 156, the attributes for this build are as follows: 50 Vigor, 43 Mind (including a bonus from the helmet), 10 Endurance, 9 Strength, 12 Dexterity, 80 Intelligence, 25 Faith, and 9 Arcane. Strength and Dexterity are kept at the minimum required levels. Vigor is set at 50 but can be increased to 55 or 60 for more survivability. Mind is high to allow for extensive spellcasting, particularly during boss fights. Intelligence is maximized at 80 to enhance the damage output of the Carian Regal Scepter. Faith is at 25 to use Golden Vow and Flame Grant Me Strength.
The Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear is recommended for boosting magic damage in boss fights. The Opaline Hardtear offers increased damage negation, providing better protection. Alternatively, the Cerulean Hidden Tear can be used to eliminate FP costs temporarily, particularly useful when casting Meteorite of Astel. The Great Rune of choice for this build is Radahn’s Great Rune, providing extra health, FP, and stamina, which are all beneficial for this setup.
