The Chain Set is the most easily available set of armor for a new character, being located very close to the start of the game and not too expensive to purchase, which makes it a good choice for starting classes who would otherwise lack early-game protection.
The Tree Surcoat and Eye Surcoat can be used as an alternative to the Chain Armor in the Chain Set.
