Sony announces the next event date for its upcoming November PlayStation focused State of Play and it's right around the corner.
Sony announces a new State of Play event for PlayStation fans, and while it's coming very soon, there's a small catch viewers should be aware of. It's been a couple of months since Sony hosted a PlayStation State of Play, so this latest announcement is likely going to kick off plenty of speculation amongst fans.
The last State of Play for PlayStation was held in September, and for many it was another major event. Not only did fans get another look at Housemarque's upcoming Saros, but PlayStation showed off Insomniac's Wolverine for the first time. Serving as the big announcement at the end of the showcase, fans got a big gameplay trailer followed by a developer diary to highlight a behind the scenes look at its development, including the confirmation of Liam McIntyre as Logan. A little under 2 months later, Sony has announced the next State of Play.
Fans won't have to wait long for the next PlayStation State of Play as Sony has announced a November 11 release date, kicking off at 2pm PT/5pm ET. As usual, full details on the event are a little scarce, but fans can expect over 40 minutes of announcements, though unlike previous State of Play events, Sony isn't giving away any games that will be included in the showcase. In fact, this likely won't be a typical State of Play episode.
Inside the announcement post, Sony is referring to this as State of Play Japan as the 40-minute runtime will focus entirely on games created in Japan and across Asia. Voice actor Yuki Kaji, known for a variety of roles including Todoroki from My Hero Academia, is hosting the event, which is set to feature everything from indie titles, anticipated games, and developer interviews. It's also worth noting that the State of Play will be broadcast in Japanese, but will have full English subtitles.
Naturally, the ambiguous post has already kicked off a wave of speculation from fans, attempting to determine what could potentially be showcased. Major studios like Capcom and Square Enix are based in Japan, which has led some to hope for a Resident Evil Requiem, Kingdom Hearts 4, or Final Fantasy 7 Remake update. With Arc System Works also based in Japan and currently working with Marvel and Sony, perhaps fans could be getting a new character reveal for the anticipated fighting game Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls. Either way, fans won't have to wait long to find out.
